TAP Temporary Access Pass

TAP is a time-limited passcode that allows users to register passwordless authentication methods and recover access to their account without needing a password. You can also use a TAP to set up Windows devices.

Stopping Microsoft Authenticator Requests

The Microsoft Authenticator can cause major disruption to business users if they don't have it setup.

For instance - Microsoft Authenticator called when setting up new PC or creating Windows pins.

Open up Microsoft Azure. You can get there via your Microsoft 365 admin center > Settings > Org Settings > Multi-factor authentication...

Once in Microsoft Azure... go to dashboard / properties.

At the bottom there is a link ... "Manage Security Defaults"

You can then disable the security defaults.
